Sorry for the delay everyone, had a quick vacation that threw us off course but it’s time to get back on track with the next installment! This time around we have The Hermit, The Wheel of Fortune, and Justice.

When it comes to the Hermit card, there is no one in Victory City that show that better than Machina. Having become the very heart of Victory City from within Frost Tower, Machina reflects the solitude and understanding that comes from isolation. Due to his years of isolation brought on by a horrible accident as a sidekick, Machina has worked inside of Frost Tower and has become one of the most insightful in Victory - only sharing his knowledge with those he deems worthy.

In the Wheel of Fortune, we show a standoff between two masters of luck in Victory City, Ronin and Pantheon. Like the wheel itself, this scene and the people in it showcase luck and change. Ronin is the embodiment of luck at times, while Pantheon is the change that transformed Walter McGavin’s life around for the better.

Ralph Curtis devoted his life to carrying on the mantle of being the Red Right Hand at a time when the world feared what Victory City may become. Just like the original Red Right Hand, Ralph Curtis provided balance and council to those who possessed the powers of gods. As a regular human, his strength relied on enacting justice, and bringing attention to those who would abuse their authority. After the Crash, Curtis gave up his life as a masked crusader, and became a full time police officer, reaching the position of Commissioner. He has kept his oath to the city, and struggles with the corruption within the police, as well as the increasingly violent behavior of his apprentice and current Red Right Hand, August Madinger.
Of course we’ll leave you with a few stories featuring Machina and of course the duel between Ronin and Pantheon. As for next time, we’ll be going over the Hanged Man, Death, and Temperance.
Welcome back for another installment of the Victory City inspired tarot cards! Tonight we have The Lovers, The Chariot, and Strength for you, so let’s get started.

The Lovers deal not only with love but with the choice that comes with finding love and no one represents that better than Stan and Jackie. When they first started out, Stan was a hero in Victory who would end up combating Jackie and her gang of ruffians but after the Crash they hung up their capes and cowls and settled in for a life together. The card also represents harmony, and with Stan and Jackie’s past they fit together like yin and yang.

The Chariot, which symbolizes martial valor and conquest, is represented by Bastion, one of the most experienced soldiers in the world. Bastion rides forth alone, without depending on others, and relies on his own determination and discipline to carry him through to victory. But the victory of the Chariot comes at a high price. Bastion’s conviction leads him to ruthless tactics, and a willingness to sacrifice all to defeat his enemies. Against the foes he faces in Victory City, that may well be what it takes.

One assumes that the Strength card merely represents the pure physical nature of strength. The card actually represents both sides of strength, the physical and the spiritual. Aegis plays to both of these, with his armor granting him great strength, but he comes with the knowledge to use it responsibly.
I’ve actually forgotten to add stories to the characters that we showcase, so I’m making up for that now. If you want to read some stories on Bastion or Aegis (Stan and Jackie currently don’t have any) you can click right HERE and HERE.
Next up we have The Hermit, The Wheel of Fortune, and Justice. Till next time!
Welcome back new and old to another round of Victory City inspired tarot cards. Today we’re going to go over The Empress, The Emperor, and The Hierophant.

Here we have the lovely artist herself, Dragon, representing the Empress. Known to represent the physical world, Dragon was chosen due to her very Earthy approach and control over the elements. Dragon has been around for hundreds of years, and through that has gained a patience and calm to her that reflects the motherhood usually shown in the portrayal of the empress. Much like the empress though, Dragon is possessive like a mother, treating her gold pile as if each piece were a child.

For the Emperor, Pantheon fits the role. Being a herald to Zeus (from which the card was based), it showcases Pantheon’s natural leadership role on Vanguard. The card also represents Aries which conveys enthusiasm and energy, both of which Pantheon showcase with his more immature behavior. Pantheon though will always show us the best that the Emperor has to offer - an enthusiastic leader that the masses wish to follow.

Lastly we have Jotunn representing the Hierophant or the High Priest. The hierophant is know for sharing knowledge and rites with the community, to which Jotunn (tries) to enact on fellow Vanguard members. The Hierophant can also be stubborn, much like Jotunn and his “No Fun” policies. Overall both enjoy sharing their wisdom with their communities, but only one has an annoyingly cute penguin to overcome.
That’s all for today, next time we’ll cover The Lovers, The Chariot, and Strength.
Recently Victory Project artist Dragon took it upon herself to illustrate a tarot card set based off of characters from within the Victory City universe. Here’s the first three of the set.

We begin with The Fool who’s portrayed by Striker. The card itself doesn’t relate to being a fool though, but is noted for beginnings. It also deals with the young and inexperienced much like Striker is. Being one of the youngest members of Vanguard and new to super heroing in general, Striker tends to go in with the mindset of a veteran but the experience of a beginner and not looking before he leaps.

Next up is The Magican portrayed by Ronin. Both the Magician and Ronin deal with manipulation and transformation through will (or luck). Ronin is also incredibly knowledgeable of the heroes of Pre-Crash Victory City to the point of obession, which relates to the infinity symbol over the head that symbolizes the infinite power and knowledge of the mind. Lastly, Ronin is both a mercenary and a con artist which take draws from the cards symbolism to both over coming duality and it’s affiliation with Mercury, know as the god of thieves.

The High Priestess card illuminates the way toward greater things, and there is no character more apt for the role than Path. As a member of the Vanguard, Path’s abilities are vital in finding lost persons and hidden treasures. Her demeanor is both calm, so as to allow others to find their own footing, but bright, to engage higher orders of thought. Although much about her life remains a mystery, Path continues to lead the way toward a deeper understanding of the world of Victory City, one road at a time.
That’s all for now so stay tuned for more cards coming soon.
